As construction progresses, we’re looking forward to debuting expanded and transformational spaces within the Library.
Here’s a preview of one such space — the Highland Park Archives — and what you can expect to find. With a new elevator in place, a new Reading Room within the archives will be accessible for all. Community members will have a dedicated space to examine materials from Highland Park’s history, whether it’s to delve into the 1800s, the 1900s, or more recent years. What might you find? An 1820 map of Illinois, newspaper headlines with news of the day, diaries that capture life in the past, HP Music Club scrapbooks from 1950-2020, and much more. We’ve been preserving Highland Park’s history, and we look forward to welcoming you to the new space for research, exploration, and discovery.
